Microsoft ended general support for Windows 7 on 14 January 2020. The Extended Security Updates (ESU) program for business customers ended on 10 January 2023. Since then, Microsoft no longer releases security updates for Windows 7.

Does Windows 7 still receive security updates from Microsoft?
No. Microsoft ended general support on 14 January 2020; the ESU program ended on 10 January 2023. We therefore recommend Windows 7 exclusively for isolated systems, legacy software, test and training environments or retro computing – not for productive internet use.
Does activation still work in 2026?

Which variant should I choose – 32-Bit or 64-Bit?
64-Bit for hardware with more than 4 GB RAM and newer software. 32-Bit for older PCs (before approx. 2008), 32-Bit line-of-business software or special hardware drivers that are only available in 32-Bit. Both variants are included.
Is this OEM license transferable to another PC?
No. OEM licenses are permanently bound to the hardware on first activation (in particular to the mainboard). A move to a new PC is not provided for. If you need a transferable license, you will find suitable retail variants in our Windows collection.
On how many PCs can I install it?
This license is intended for activation on one PC. Parallel use on several computers is not permitted.
Is resale legally permitted?
Yes. The ECJ ruling C-128/11 "UsedSoft/Oracle" of 03.07.2012 and the BGH ruling I ZR 4/14 "Green-IT" of 19.03.2015 confirm the resale of OEM licenses within the EU.
What about the right of withdrawal?
With activation of the key, the right of withdrawal expires (§ 356 (5) BGB). For non-activated keys, the 100-day money-back guarantee applies.
